A day spent with two Elders from different sides of the World

Today I had the pleasure of being in a small intimate crowd who were honored to share space with two Elders - Grandmother Red Leaf and Uncle Bob Randall - while attending this great event. http://laughingwatersnc.blogspot.com/2010/10/rekindle-your-spirit-with-great-wisdom.html
I learned when I found my current mountain home that I call my sanctuary that it was located a couple of mountain curves away from this retreat center and Eco Community – Laughing Waters.  This was one more amazing synchronicity to add to the pleasures of living here.  I attended the grand opening the weekend I moved here in June and have been awaiting a time to attend one of their events. Well today that time came and it was time well spent.
We started the day with all of the attendants being smudged in ceremony and then the day began to unfold as we were treated to words of wisdom and were enlightened by the presence of these two beautiful souls. A silence fell as words flowed in and around us and brought most to tears. We all knew immediately that we were sharing sacred space while being reminded that we are all special and a gift to and from the universe. It was not difficult to feel that we are one with nature as they spoke of it while all around you could see the trees and leaves blowing to the ground through the ceiling to floor windows.  I leaned against a tree that was on the property and cut and placed  inside the center as the centerpiece. The waterfall behind the center was singing its song to us in unison with the voices speaking. Now I know why they called it Laughing Waters. Grandmother Red Leaf said “The water lays her head in the mountains and her feet in the valley and flows all around.” It too is a teacher and it has memory.  Listen and feel the message.
The many teachings and flowing of love was shared as they took turns speaking to us and passing on their wisdom. Wisdom handed down to them from many generations to spread about the world. Learn to breathe with the leaves and to flow as nature does is the way of life. Know that unconditional love no matter where or what tribe or culture you are a part of is the law of being. The natural order of things are as they should be and to be aware at all times. We were reminded that we have lost our memory of Mother Earth and her teachings. Just try it and be still and listen. Do you hear the ancient voices call to you?
It was spoken as to how we have become a disposable nation and we do not respect our Elders (yes we have them too) and that we have placed most of them in nursing homes to die alone.  All of nature is medicine and the higher the medicine the greater the pain. Grandmother Red Leaf said “Walk silently and break not the stillness of the dawn.” Be strong like the trees, honor old ways and guard what is sacred. Every time you ask for something offer something in return.
Uncle Bob Randall shared his message that also echoed much of Grandmother Red Leaf’s. He also taught us that in his culture of the  Aborigines in Australia how young men are still initiated to learn the natural ways of the land and of life. They are literally grasped away from their families and taken to the land to walk and learn of their ancestors and how they came to be. They leave as young boys and return as men of wisdom. They still teach in 4 ways by story, song, dance and art. We sang songs and danced the dance of his people.  Share all living things space and care for each others well being whether it be animal or plant or person. We are all one. We are all connected. Learn to breathe with the leaves. There were many more messages given to us today and gifts of teachings too numerous to mention were taken away with you as you drove away.
I left this event a bit more hopeful that not only those that chose to come and be a part of what was spoken were validated in their beliefs, but that we can share it with others to spread the love of life and the teachings will continue.  Love everyone and every living thing unconditionally and pass it on and on and on.  I am grateful for this day of opportunity to share in the wisdom and pass some of it on to you.
These wisdom's and your spirit are not hidden or a secret. They are inside of us all just waiting to be awakened and rediscovered.
